Computer Games

This week we have been working with our presentation. We have made and sent in the powerpoint we are going to use, we wanted to use pictures rather than words in our presentation.  We also made plans for our acting, found music for the act and checked out the lecture hall F1. What is left now is just preparation before our presentation, practice our act, make sure everyone knows what to say and that we do not exceed the 10 mins limit.

Human Senses

This last week was all about the presentation: we met on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and had three very intensive sessions, first planning, then filming, finally cutting and putting everything together.

The biggest challenge or the worst moment was when, after hours of film editing and cutting, the program shut down and we thought that we had lost big part of our work. Thankfully we could recover most of it through an autosave-file. It was also tricky to find a good way to visualize smell, but we believe we managed quite well.

A very intensive week, especially on Friday, but it's done now and all that is left to do is to practice the presentation a few times. Conclusion: we had fun and are looking forward to Thursday!

Future of audio

During the week we recorded an audio (and made a script for it before) and made a presentation. Don't know what to add:) All is ready and we are looking forward to present our service! 

Personalized Storytelling

This week we have been working mosly with our video. We have written a script for it and through a Internet site, fiverr, asked people to record it with their own voice, so now we have a person from a English native speaking country talking our script! One of the biggest challenges we had with the video was to work with it to make it match exactly with the audio file.

We have also been working with the presentation, and one of the biggest challenges here was to choose what is most important to say and what can be left out.

We did not change or alter anything in the project this week. The changes we made last week still feels good and relevant, so we’re sticking with them and have been working with how to implement those changes in the video.

So for this week we've basically been sitting with the presentation, with a specific focus on the video.
As I believe we mentioned in some previous post we have been looking at creating an animated video rather than shooting one ourselves since we believe it fits the purpose of our presentation the best.

For the video we've decided to learn and use Adobe After Effects, to be able to create something of a better standard than if we were to use some third-party anymation interface (like when we used VideoScribe in the midcrit). Even though it's been quite tough learning a program from scratch I believe the outcome has been great! Right now we're just finishing up some final touches with the audio of the video and then we're ready to send it in for tomorrow's deadline.

We're looking forward to next week and the final presentations, but ofcourse also the beckoning christmas break!

Virtual Reality

This week has been very hectic for the whole group. We have had big deadlines in other courses which have resulted in long days and early mornings. With that in mind one might think that we haven’t had time to do that much in this course but that is wrong, we have been able to meet a couple of times during this week and the work is still currently in progress.

We meet at monday and started to plan the presentation and the videos that we will create. We made the manuscript for the big video and it was much harder than we thought. We have a pretty complex concept which involves a lot of aspects and if we only mention/show a couple of them the concept won’t be understandable. We managed to make a manuscript that consisted of, pretty much, every part that we think is worth mentioning.

One thing that we decide at monday was that we should contact Anna Nicole Gustafsson from JMK to ask if she wanted to participate in our video. She has some expertise knowledge about creating such movies and since none of us has done it before it was really valuable.

She wanted to be a part of our video and we meet on wednesday and shoot the material for our movie. The movie is currently being edited and we hope that it will be finished at saturday but since we have a lot of deadlines in other courses that is doubtful. We might have to submit it early next week or in the end of this weekend. However we are doing our very best.

Another thing that we decided on wednesday after some discussions was who will present our project. We had previously decided that two will do that and we have decided now that we will use the same dynamic duo (Isaac Rondon and Johan Huusmann) that presented on the mid-crit session. We thought that they made a good job there and they get the opportunity once again. All credit to them!

We meet at thursday as well and discussed what is needed for the movie and made a plan for how to continue the work.

What we have done

This week has been all about our movie for the final presentation. We have been working with all the effects we want to have in the movie, everything from building things in 3D to more simpler graphics in 2D. We have also recorded some more footage that we felt were missing from the movie. Since we are working with a green screen it is a lot of work to be done to make the background in every scene more interesting than just a piece of green fabric. We have also worked a lot to make the colors of the movie look good and natural. The goal with the movie is to really explain our solution while keeping the audience interested throughout the entire time.

What we will do

Since deadline for the movie is tomorrow morning there isn’t so much time left. The last hours before the deadline will be spent on finishing everything that isn’t finished yet and after that make smaller adjustments to make the movie as good as possible. We will also discuss how we are going to present the movie in the beginning of our presentation. The video will occupy most of our presentation-time but we still want to introduce us and the video prior to showing it.

Challenges

The challenge this week has been to find the time and resources to get the movie finished in time for the deadline. It has also been somewhat a challenge to come up with a lot of ideas of how to show things and what we want to have in the background instead of the green screen.
