Point of View

What we have done
The last week we have had full focus on the presentation. We thought that it would be a good idea to have a prototype of Sentiment to show how it works. This is mainly because our concept is pretty hard to understand and our service is a bit heavy on the technical side. So instead of having a presentation about the technique and trying to explain how it works, why not just show how it works instead. So the last week we have built a prototype. We have also produced two movies for the presentation, one to give the audience a background on the subject and the other of a persona and the prototype.

What we will do
Since the final deadline is on Saturday (tomorrow) we don’t have that much else to do except repeating the voice-presentation that Andreas will be responsible for next Thursday.

Challenges encountered
No exceptional challenges this week more than coming up with a storyline for the movies that is both short and explains the background, subject and problem with Point of View.

Changes in the project
No changes this week

Future of Audio

The previous week was quite hectic. We finished with the idea, finished the book text, proof-read it on Wednesday and also met Bjorn Thuresson in order to discuss the idea - is it good enough? We felt a huge relief when he said that the idea is perfect and he really likes it. We needed someone to approve what we've created.

Now we need to make a presentation, and the following work has been done:

1. Olena recorded the audio for presentation (half of the necessary) and wrote a script for audio
2. Ma and Jerry made the slides and mock-up of our service Heery.

On Tuesday (tomorrow) we meet in order to make rest of audio and put it together then. Seems, we are not out of schedule, though this post is being written on Monday instead of Friday. Sorry for that. End of year is really full of studies.

Good luck to everyone with the presentations!

Cross Cultural Storytelling v49

Group name: Cross Cultural Storytelling

What we have done: This week we finished the book chapter, and after the proof reading we added some minor changes to the text, but nothing big really. We also started talking about the presentation and decided to go with both PPT, with voice over at one part, and a movie to explain the concept more in detail. And we want to think about storytelling elements during the presentation, to make it more alive. However, we haven’t decided how to do it yet.
What we will do: The next steps are to finalize the presentation and create the movie where we present and describe our product and concept. Before next week, we will look at different tools for creating movies, and also idéas for biased articles which we can show during our presentation.
Challenges encountered: We wanted to use an animated video, however we haven’t got that much experience from Adobe After Effects so we are thinking about finding a good online animation creation tool, and have started to look into some of them. It is hard to know which one that is going to be best for us, or if we should try and do it ourselves in After Effects. Other than that, not much challenges occured.
Changes in the project: We don’t really have that many changes at this point. We are just trying to complete the project now and we al have a clear vision of what we want I think.
Resources: We have looked into animating tools such as powtoon, animaker, goanimate, moovly, biteable videoscribe and Adobe After Effects.

Interactive Story telling

What we have done

Last Monday, we gathered to finish and review the article that we handed in last Tuesday. We have a good feeling about where this project is heading and are satisfied with the switch of concept. Then we corrected and went through the feedback from the proof-reading session as well as refining our text. We also completed and rewrote the manusscript for the presentation that should be a complete guide for making the video that we will play at the final presentation.

During Thursday and Friday evening we gathered to get some footage and shoot some scenes for the final presentation.

The concept/idea

No real changes but we have made sure that our purpose, business plan, technology, all research and vision all conform and are connected with each other.

Challenges encountered

The most difficult thing this week has been to write a script that illustrates and communicates the concept in a way that we are satisfied with.

What we will do

Film, edit, and animate. Prepare for the final presentation.

Big Data

What we have done
We have done alot during this week, mianly that we finished our idea, and wrote our article for this years book.

Our current idea
If storytelling is the next step for Big Data in business (Narrative Science, 2015), then Big Data can be a big actor in storytelling. Introducing Dale, a storytelling application that utilizes Big Data to create stories tailored to your expectations. Dale will analyse the input from the user, such as age, length of story, genre and favourite author. Dales takes advantage of this input and uses it to define keywords and important parameters in order to be able to collect relevant information from various Big Data-sources. Dale then creates the story you want, at the moment you want it.

Next step
The next step for us is to get ready for the presentation. We are going to do this by creating a short advertising video that entertain, explain and evolves our idea beyond the boundaries of mortal men. All in the purpose of our final presentation.

Challenges encountered
The most prominent challenge was to find a way of getting our koncept unique.

Advertising

What we have done

During this week we have focused on writing the book-chapter, as well as creating images/infographics/logo for the book-chapter. A lot of work have had to be done in order to finish everything, but as with everything else you somehow manage to complete what you planned before deadlines.

What we will do

Now we will start focusing on creating our design representation (movie) as well as the final presentation.

Challenges encountered

Writing the book-chapter has been really time-consuming, but not really a challenge. For our project it has been great as we have had to specify and further think about our idea and try to make it as good as possible. We are very satisfied with how it turned out.

Changes in the project

There are no changes in the project.

Personalized Storytelling

This week we have been working mostly with writing the book chapter, which was due on December first, and we have also handed in a short summary about how we will present our idea. The discussions we had while writing the chapter made us make some changes, because we realized that a some things were unclear before. For example, the details in how to choose and calculate which length that a person has available for news consumption and how the adjustments will be done, and the possible ways to transfer the same news into different medium formats, were the biggest challenges. This made us change and develop how Nuse works, and we choose to get even more inspired by how the swedish news app Omni, so we made Nuse an expert of summarizing news, while at the same time keeping our primary focus on personalization.

Our next step is to continue working with and adjusting our visualization, the video that describes how Nuse works, so that it soon will be ready. And also continue working with and practing our presentation.
